Field Guide to a Crisis

In collaboration with Justin Maxon

Field Guide to a Crisis is a project led by artist Justin Maxon. Justin describes it as “an ongoing socially engaged project that… functions as a teacher's training tool by mentoring people residing in sober living homes in Eureka, CA to become ‘educators in resiliency.’ Participants get the opportunity to identify, present, and teach their own crisis resilience skills through lesson plans, instructional videos, and public presentations.” As part of the project, I designed and contributed to editorial development of a publication written by Justin as well as a series of risograph print posters. We created two editions of the publication: a full color edition of 150, and a single color newsprint edition of 2,000 to be distributed widely. The posters serve primarily as a commemoration and memento of appreciation to contributors.
